Graphic Artist


Description of Role

This position is responsible for the University College’s graphic artwork and creating internal and external advertisements that have a high visual impact. The role involves communicating with various departments and understanding their needs before making design decisions.

The position also performs a variety of multifaceted duties related to special projects which include the development of brochures, magazines, banners, books, programs, print and social media art work, as well as, the institutions website appearance and web based graphic requirements.


Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Project Management experience would be a clear advantage.
  • Knowledge of the University College’s policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of computer design tools such as In Design, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of graphic designs for brochures, print, posters, digital displays, flyers and other publications.
  • Understanding of core design elements such as type, contrast, alignment, proximity and layout.
  • Up to date knowledge of industry software and a professional approach to time and deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical skills to ensure that the client’s desired message is conveyed in the design.
  • Artistic ability in order to create designs that are interesting and appealing to clients.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be fully competent in using specialized graphic design software to prepare their designs such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe In-Design, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Dreamweaver.
  • Must be creative and have the ability to think of new approaches to communicating ideas to clients.
  • Able to work in a team-based, collaborative setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Technical skills to evaluate, adapt and integrate a range of graphic design techniques.
