Learn novel and effective behaviour management and intervention strategies for use in virtual and non-virtual classrooms.
Behavioural challenges among students constantly impact educational stakeholders and the nature of the challenges are morphing along with the educational landscape; Stakeholders in education must become aware of novel methods for effective behaviour management and intervention. This course is designed to equip participants with strategies for maintaining safe and productive learning environments through the study of applied behaviour analysis, functional behaviour assessment and alternative procedures and interventions for severe problem behaviours. Emphasis is placed on proactive strategies that promote learning and prosocial behaviours as well as positive discipline-inclusive learner-friendly virtual and non-virtual classrooms. The course comprises five (5) Units. The content has been designed to facilitate the sequential development of concepts and skills through investigation, integration and scaffolding. During the course, participants engage in a variety of self-directed individual and group based learning activities, simulations, discussions, document preparation and oral presentations. The course is assessed by coursework only.
