The mission of the Department of Behavourial Sciences of The Mico University College is to provide quality academic and quality guidance training to a diverse student population to promote professional guidance counsellors in the classroom.

The Mico Youth Counselling Research and Development Centre, a counseling laboratory and outreach programme initiated by the Department, is housed in the Manhattan Road facility. The Centre caters to referred students from external entities, such as, the Family Court, schools, Child Development Agency (CDA), National Council on Drug Abuse (NCDA) and Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA). Additionally, the Department facilitates workshops and seminars, while faculty serve as counselling resource persons for schools and other organizations. Staff members also share their expertise by serving on committees of the Ministry of Education Youth & Information, churches and organizations that target societal issues.
