Lecturer – Computer Science

Description of Role

This position is responsible for delivering engaging and effective lectures in various computer science courses, including programming, networking, and software development.

The incumbent will also be responsible for developing and updating the curriculum to reflect current industry standards and technological advancements and for mentoring and guiding students in academic projects, research and career development.

He/she will collaborate with colleagues to enhance the department’s academic offerings and research initiatives and participate in academic advising, departmental meetings and the university college committees

Requirements

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in computer science or a closely related field. A PhD is considered ideal and is preferred for this higher-level teaching position. 
  • Proficiency in facilitating courses related to computer science, including but not limited to Graphics Design, Computer Programming, Software Engineering, Computer Mathematics and others as per the curriculum requirements. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, and JavaScript.
  • Competencies in Animation and Game Design
  • Extensive knowledge of computer networking principles, protocols, and security.
  • Proven experience in pedagogy and instructional design, with a focus on interactive and student-centered teaching methods.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and effectively.
  • A strong publication record in reputable computer science journals and conferences.
  • Prior teaching experience at the university level is highly desirable.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in computer science and education.
  • Experience in using modern teaching methodologies, educational technologies, and online learning platforms.
